Well, my new story series, "The Laurcian" is now well under way with two chapters up. There isn't much plot yet, I'm sorry to say, but that should change with the next chapter or two. Much to my surprise it's already gained a couple readers. This is a good thing, because I'll need all the nudging I can get, since I'm distracted very easily. (Already I can hear the call of electronic gaming...)

I'm not as optimistic about "Lorn Merkton," but hopefully with time it will also gain something of a following.

Haha, yeah. I haven't had much success on any other stories (only some bits and pieces have been wrote out). Been too distracted by Mass Effect, however it is a good source of inspiration.

I've been wanting to play Mass Effect, is it as good as they make it sound? Fully interactive storyline? Or did it end up like KotOR, where you just get options to go one way or another every now and then and your choice has no effect on the game at large?
:icondarthwader:
Yes, the game is purely amazing and fully interactive. You are given choices and those choices do affect the game play. I've played through it twice already and I still haven't witness all the affects my actions have on the game yet.

I would also explain how your actions affect the ending of Mass Effect as well. But that might ruin the entire plot.

Also, I watched a video that the game developers made for Mass Effect 2. They confirmed that your character and your character's actions will carry over to the second game.

The game itself and as I already said is purely amazing. You are given over 20 hours of gameplay and much more. There are so many secrets, mission, and information to find out. One thing that I love about the game is that you can receive missions from the most unexpected ways. For instance I started a mission that I overheard from a news report while riding in a elevator.

I would go on, but it would take me a very long time to type out every single thing that is wonderful about the game. If you really want a professional review of it, check out the Xbox Magazine review here - [link]

Good. Very good. I can't wait to play this game. I was equally excited about Force Unleashed, but after seeing the first level played (I wasn't playing), I was mildly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it still looks like an amazing game, and I look forward to the story, but what I'd heard about it made it sound like a fully-destructible atmosphere, when it really just has a lot of fully-destructible objects.

Mass Effect, however, sounds like it's achieved my expectations, which makes me want to play it all the more.

That's good, hope you enjoy it. I got the game at Wal-Mart for twenty dollars, platinum hits. Came with a bonus CD with extra content, documentaries, music, and download-able content that adds a good extra hour or two to the game.

The one thing I probably like the most about Mass Effect is that the game is really in depth with telling a good story instead of going for a full blown action game (still a lot of good fights to be fought, though).

I have to say I am rather turned away from games that rely on wowing you with full blown gun fights and less on telling a good story. Games like Halo. Can be fun to play, especially the multi-player, but it lacks a good story.

As for Force Unleashed. I was looking forward for that game ever since I saw the previews. Honestly, I'm glad I didn't buy it when I had the chance to. Read the reviews and was turned away from it.

You and I have a lot in common in that respect, my friend. I enjoy games with a good plot more than games with good graphics or gameplay. It's why I can still enjoy even the early Final Fantasy games.

I am a Seeker of Stories, it is my motive for entertainment, whether I find them in books, movies, television, or games.
:icondarthwader:
Right on! =D
One of the purest and oldest form of entertainment was story telling. So you can see why I am turned away from games like Halo with pretty much no real story.
:iconkintair:
Indeed, the thicker the plot, the better the entertainment. That's why I enjoy Lost so much. Plot so thick you couldn't get through it with a jackhammer.
:icondarthwader:
Mhm. And Lost as in the television series?
